After reminiscing about Easter, I have decided to try my hand at making an Easter Bun this year. I found this recipe online and will try it. There were others but I selected this one as the feedback was so positive that I think that a non-baker like me could pull it off. I also made a few edits at my son’s recommendation (he bakes).
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons browning sauce
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 2 tablespoons guava jam
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 12 ounce mixed peel
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
Method
- Warm beer on low flame- add browning, brown sugar, molasses, jam, honey & butter.
- Stir until dissolved. Let this mixture cool down to room temperature before proceeding.
- Sift together all dry ingredients.
- Mix in fruits.
- Add melted beer mixture. Mix until well combined.
- Pour into two greased bread pans.
- Bake at 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.
(I've tried the recipe and its delicious! Make sure you mix it well!)
